View Article  Patterson, Boo Williams Advance to Semi-Finals

Boo Williams won a very exciting, hard fought game over Houston Hoops to advance to the semi-finals in the Nike Peach Jam Classic.  Houston went up by double digits early, mainly due to the cold shooting of Chris Wright.

Once they started to get the ball distributed, and his shot improved they staged a furious comeback.  Williams scoring was balanced and they were led by Glen Williams with 17 and Wright with 13.

Patterson had an off shooting night with only six points and want head to head with soon to be Longhorn Gary Johnson who put up 24 points, 5 rebounds and a block.  However Patrick recorded a tournament high 8 blocked shots and grabbed 12 boards.  In fact, he met a Johnson dunk with a block and Williams secured the win.

Jai Lucas, the son of former Maryland star John Lucas had 11 in the loss.  Lucas is being courted by the Terps  and Kentucky.  When the dust cleared the score was Williams 61-56.

The battle between Johnson and Patterson was wort admission and got the attention of a who's who of coaches.  Chris Collins watched for the Devils.

Kyle Singler played a great game, but his team lost 70-66 to the SYF Players.  Kyle had tweaked his ankle earlier, by showed little effect of the injury scoring 20 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal.

Subscribers  to the newsletter will get after game quotes and two interviews of the star prospect, as well as a serious breakdown of his game.  They will also receive more comments and two interviews with Greg Monroe who is rising to the top of the charts on many recruiting services.

Greg's team lost today, but check out these numbers 18 points, 16 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 blocks and a steal.  The newsletter will tell you what family member likes Duke, and will have a scouting report on the talented youngster who is barely sixteen.

I will catch tomorrows Boo Williams game, but will have to leave before the title game.

Patterson leads the event in blocks by a wide margin and is probably 2nd in rebounds at this point.  We will have an interview up by Monday with him, some of the quotes and answers from Singler and Monroe, but if you want a ridiculous run down of information, you'll have to help fund me going to these events by checking out the new letter.

Unfortunately, I am on an insecure server, so that info will go out when I arrive back in Durham to subscribers.  Check in next week for lots of information and an article on K's beginnings with quotes from ex players.

Right now, I am in basketball heaven in 98 degree Georgia heat, but I promise to work hard to bring you all the details very soon.  As always check back for pictures of our prospects, as well as some other players of interest and a surprise or two and more opinions thatn you probably care for;)

Thanks for stopping by and making this the Blue Devil Nation.

View Article  Singler, Patterson Advance - Must win tonight!

Patrick Patterson had one of his least effective games, but Boo Williams still advanced with a 81-51 rout of the Charlotte Royals.  Patrick had 6 points and 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal in limited action.

Just after that, Kyle Singler led his Portland Legends to a 84-65 win, to advance.   Singler sat for much of the game, including the last six minutes.  He took a nasty spill and tweaked his ankle, having to ice it down afterward.  Kyle tossed in 20 points grabbed 9 boards, had 3 assists and a blocked shot.

 Singler

It is the first opportunity I have had to see Singler, and I am very impressed.  He is adept in every facet of the game and is very polite off the court.  There is a really nice interview going out Sunday, two in fact from Kyle, where he covers many things.  This will be for newsletter subscribers only.

Both teams must win tonight to advance to tomorrows games.  Coach Collins and Wojo took in both pro sects performances, as did Romar and many others.

Don't feel too sorry for Patrick Patterson having an off game or judge him from the stats in today game listed above.  He leads the event with 10 blocks and is second in rebounding with 42.

Eric Gordan leads the tournament in scoring at 27.3 per game.  He is in a battle with Kalin Lucas as I type.  For those who do not know ... there are six courts all in the same facility, each with a game in progress. Coaches are allowed at this event and share space with scouts and media.  The event is held in North Augusta, South Carolina, but most people stay in Augusta Georgia home of the Augusta National, and other golfing events.  The area is very green and nice, but is outrageously hot, being 97 degrees today.

You can see things like UF coach Donavan going to Hooters, and Roy Williams scouting Derick Rose.  As for Rose, he is considering skipping college and playing a year in Europe.  There is a ton of overall talent in the event and I will touch on that later.

Expect a lot of news forthcoming, If you are a recruiting fan, I urge you to try the newsletter which goes out Sunday via E-Mail and hardcopy to those who have requested it.  You will not see this information anywhere else on the net unless it is leaked.

I will update as soon as possible, but I am now on the way to see super Greg Monroe, another player we will cover extensively in the newsletter.  Not to worry, there will be some free stuff and we will get back to great articles very soon.  I will also continue to refine the site as time permits and will have some great pictures in that I believe in illustration.

Coach K was in on the first day, but is attending business involving Team USA.  Kyle Singler said he loved playing for the U-18 USA team and that he'd play for his country again, should he have the chance.

I am hoping for an interview with former Maryland Player John Lucas and his son Jai.  I will also be chatting with new Oklahoma Coach Jeff Capel.  So much to do, so little time ...catching up will be fun though.  That is, after a five hour drive back;)
