I was ready to go over the game play by play, especially after the first half, but a disappointing loss took the wind out the sails. I can't say that I am surprised with the results because a young team is still adjusting. Despite the ridiculously unbalanced schedule the Devils have to deal with down the stretch, I feel they will become tougher from the experience. The UVA guards talked the talk and then carried the Cav's to a huge win. Both Paulus and Scheyer struggled in this game. Greg had a very nice first half, but for whatever reason got away from what he was doing. He can't take the ball to the baseline, when he had a slasher to hand off too. Why? Because it is a turnover waiting to happen. Also, when K called time after a turnover, he was not too pleased that Greg was down low when he should have offered his taller teammates an outlet with better positioning. Add Scheyers woes to Greg's offense and you have 6 for 20 shooting. Then they combined for a 5/4 assist/to ratio and with those numbers Duke is lucky to have been in position to win. So, the road game took it's toll. When UVA sent the game into overtime the emotion was too much for Duke to overcome. Going eight and one half minutes without a basket sure didn't help, so it was indeed a team effort that lacked that little extra it takes to win games like this. Yes, the mistakes down the stretch looked like a nightmarish script. Still, the team will get better form this. They will regroup and they will not give up. Hopefully, players will finish inside against Florida State and out crowd will pick them up for dangerously athletic FSU team which can tie the Devils with a win. K will right the ship, that I am certain of, but it is frustrating to lose a game that was practically in the bag. That said, show the guys some love by getting behind them. We all need to realize that we are still rounding a learning curve. Next play.

Eddie McKinney has backed off his commitment to Stanford and will play his college ball at Duke. Eddie is a shot in the arm for Roof in that he is a safety who could see action as a freshman. McKinney is from the from the football rich state of Texas.
