View Article  UNC at Duke, thoughts and pic's

The thing about a true Duke fan is that while they're certainly disappointed with last nights loss, they appreciated the effort of a young team.

Duke has been on top for quite a while and this season is an adjustment to those who hopped the bandwagon, but those of us who have been around awhile, know the Blue Devils will be back.

Last evening proved the togetherness of the Duke fan base ... at least those who attended and many who watched on TV.

Students staved off a few Carolina fans determined to show their butts in K-Ville, but did so in a restrained manner.

On this night, those in the upper deck and the crazies were one with the team.  The fans rode the high of an emotional first half, to the downs of foul troubles and missed free throws down the stretch.

Still, Duke fans at the game showed class.  The crazies cheered until the very end and most of the upper deck stayed in place even when the game was decided in the final seconds.

Duke showed class ... the class of a winner ... the type of class that said, no worries, we will be back and one day there will be hell to pay.

So, the Blue Devils find themselves in uncharted territory, dropping to 5-5 in the conference, but they have gotten better and they can be pretty good come March.

Despite a ridiculously stacked and unbalanced schedule and some questionable calls, and being the target of every team, not to mention players playing together for the first time, Duke is still in position to make March Madness and I for one think they will.

Trust me, these guys will all get better and there is more help on the way, but a bounce here and a whistle blown there and this team would still be atop the conference in what the national media see as a rebuilding year.

Beat us while you can ... celebrate if you must, because your glee is a testament to our recent dominance.

War Paint!

Iron Duke pre-game event.

More student spirit!

Ram chops, anyone?

Crowd starts to gather on a cool day.
