- Everybody has a take on seeds this time of year. Here is one mans take as well as some general thoughts on college basketball. Of course, Joe Linardi makes a living off bracketology at ESPN. Do you need some more? Oh, and the NCAA will not be left out for they recently held a mock bracket at NCAA headquarters. With so much to read and keep up with during the college basketball season, I sorta shy away from this kind a thing. Especially considering that there is a lot more basketball to be played in both the regular season and conference tournaments. Still, this is the one day when all the links were hard to ignore and yes, I caught myself losing some productivity in projections that are likely be meaningless by the end of next week
- Here is an excellent article on DeMarcus Nelson who has been nothing short of special this season.
- Well, Mason Plumlee got Duke's fourth offer and will be visiting during tomorrow evenings Maryland game. Hmmm! I would think the Terp's front line will make it obvious to a 6-10 kid that there is some room for him on a team where Kyle Singler is asked to guard Gist at times. Hey! Who is complaining? Duke's spread offense is a thing of beauty and in my book, you can keep a true center with this teams performance.
- Speaking of the wonderful team we are all blessed with this season, I'd like to ask you to take this time to do a little bit of reflecting. Remember that most people thought the Dukies were a distant pre season number two to North Carolina who got all the first place votes. Most people thought we were outside the top ten too and that we were too slow and not athletic. Now, focus in on the team proving all the experts wrong and what it feels like to be atop the ACC unbeaten and having but one loss. and ranked number two in the country. Done that? It feels good doesn't it?
Now think back at what it felt like to barely lose to Pitt. Can you even remember what it feels like to lose? Do you realize how fortunate we are as fans? If you can put yourself in position to remember losing for a second, you will realize just how happy you really are. Folks! It's not our birthright to win. That said, don't get too far ahead of yourselves and enjoy each and every dribble of each and every game instead of worrying about our lack of insiede presence or some of the other complaints which are moronic when Duke is performing like they have to this point. This is a very special group of kids, so savor the feeling and pull out all your mojo for tomorow nights big game versus Maryland.
- Now that I have tried to ground you a little bit for when and if we do lose again, let me share an article with you which states Duke is legitimate National Championship contender. It is this teams ultimate goal, but it will not be easy to keep the focus it takes to get there and Duke is once again the team with a target on it's back.
- In New York, they are recogizing the importance to Duke of one of their own, Greg Paulus. For all the knocks he sometimes gets, he sure seems to be having a good season.
- Hubert Davis is losing credibility by the day. Nevermind he said the Heels backcourt was better than Dukes without Ty Lawson going into the big game. It's hard to ignore his constant lack of respect ... okay, that's what this is about. Hubert has the Blue Devils ranked lower than anyone else in the ESPN Power Poll. If you are going to be in the national spotlight, you have to show a little restraint on school spirit. Just ask Jay Bilas who has the Dukies one spot ahead of Davis. His uber objectivity gets him assignments such as an interview with Bobby Knight. At his current rate, Hubert might not be able to do a balanced interview on the winning pitcher in the Little League World Series. Personally, I think he needs to take some lessons from Brad Daugherty in how to be balanced.
- Seth Davis of CNNSI handicaps his choices for Coach of the Year. And just who are the ACC's Take Charge guys? The Charlotte Observer takes a stab.
Okay, it's time to prepare for thos oh-so dangerous Maryand Terrapins. We'll talk about the big game next.
