View Article  Two Blue Devils have successful surgery
DURHAM, N.C. – Sophomores Gerald Henderson and Lance Thomas had successful hand surgeries on Tuesday at the Duke Ambulatory Surgery Center. Both surgeries were performed by Dr. David Ruch.

Henderson had reconstructive surgery to repair a ligament tear in his right wrist. He injured the wrist in Duke’s 89-78 win over North Carolina in Chapel Hill on Feb. 6 and played the final 13 games of the season with a brace on his shooting hand. Henderson finished the season third on the team in scoring (12.7 ppg.) and rebounding (4.7 rpg.), while leading the Blue Devils with 31 blocked shots. The 6-4, 210-pound guard shot 47.4 percent (156-of-329) from the field for the season. He is expected to be sidelined for 12 to 16 weeks.

Thomas’ surgery was to reconstruct a tendon tear on the fifth finger (pinkie) of his right hand. The 6-8, 220-pound forward started 28 games for the Blue Devils last season, averaging 4.3 points and 3.3 rebounds per game, while shooting 50.5 percent (49-of-97) from the field.  Thomas is expected to be sidelined for eight to 10 weeks.

View Article  Terrell Vinson chats about his unofficial visit to Duke

2009 prospect, Terrell Vinson visited Durham unofficially during the Duke-UNC game.  He was accompanied by his stepfather and mother.  I later caught up with Vinson and got his thoughts on how the visit went.  Coach K visited a practice session yesterday.  While this interview is a bit old, it gives you an idea of what to expect if you subscribe to Blue Devil Nation Premium.  Enjoy !

So what did Duke show you over during your time here?

They showed me the new practice facility, which is a nice one.  It's one of the best practice facilities I've seen.  It's just strictly basketball.  You can come in at 12 or 1 in the morning or the afternoon and get some shots or lift weights.

What is your actual height?

6-7

What position do you want to play in college?

I want to play the three.

How do you like the style of play that Duke employs?

Oh yeah!  I like the new offense they've been playing.  It's more like a freestyle offense, so I like that set.  Plus you can still run plays at Duke, so it works both ways.

Has Duke stayed in contact with you?

Yes, Wojo, Wojciechowski.  They've mainly talked with my stepfather and not so much me.

Do you think you might come back for another visit?

Yeah.  I definitely will come back for another visit towards the end of the year (season), so I can make a decision in the Fall.

What has impressed you during the visit?

The people (Cameron Crazies)!  When they told me they were sitting outside since January 3rd, anticipating this game and all the other games before it I was just shocked and surprised.  There is no reason why you shouldn't see yourself hyped up with people like that waiting to see you play.

Could you envision yourself wearing a Duke uniform?

I could see myself in a Duke uniform.  My stepfather really liked it.  He's walked around a lot while he was there.
