DURHAM, N.C. - The top-ranked Blue Devils will host St. John's in Duke's regular season finale on Sunday afternoon. Face-off is set for 1 p.m. at Koskinen Stadium.
Duke owns an overall record of 15-1 and is coming off winning its second straight ACC Championship, as the Blue Devils defeated North Carolina (17-6) in the semifinals and went on to defeat Virginia (11-9) in the title tilt in Charlottesville, Va., last weekend.
St. John’s brings a mark of 2-10 into Sunday’s contest, as the Red Storm has won two of its last three games with victories over Penn State (11-7) and Fairfield (10-7). Sunday's game marks the sixth all-time meeting between Duke and St. John’s, as the Blue Devils lead the series by a 4-1 count.
Duke, which leads the nation in scoring by averaging 15.4 goals per outing, is led by the country's top point-producing trio of Matt Danowski, Zack Greer and Max Quinzani as the attack unit has compiled 207 points this season. Danowski leads the nation in total points (80) and assists (46), while Greer and Quinzani each have a nation-leading 49 goals on the year. Greer also ranks second in total points with 71.
In goal, Dan Loftus anchors the Duke defense as the senior boasts a goals against average of 6.80 and a save percentage of .627. Loftus posted a season-high 17 saves in the Blue Devils' 2008 ACC Championship victory, earning him tournament MVP honors.
St. John's is led by Justin O'Donnell who owns a team-best 23 points on 17 goals and 6 assists in 2008. Tom Michaelsen owns a squad-high 10 assists and has contributed eight goals for 18 total points. In goal, Gavin Buckley is 2-4 on the year (9.47 GAA, .488 save pct.), while Dan Goldberg is 0-6 on the season (10.51 GAA, .509 save pct.)
